NON-MONEY
That "Other Money" You Didn’t Know You Had
by Olaf Egeberg
Here’s a how-to book about the various good ways we each have (beside using money) for meeting needs and paying for much of what we want in life. Businesses, big and small, are already using their non-monetary resources and on an ever-increasing scale. As individuals, we each can certainly do the same.
Non-Money is any skill you can offer that others can gain from, or goods or time or informa-tion or equipment or land use or helping hands or experience in a certain area. We each have more resources for getting what we want without money than we are aware of. Non-Money is also the non-monetary resources we each have for getting what we want through existing group exchanges, neighborhood exchange systems, co-operative action or downright innovation. The book includes a start-up kit for activating neighborhoods to be the places of mutual gain and support they are capable of being. Non-Money is, among other things, a tool to help in the development of good neighborhood child care programs or elder assistance or housing or basic health care or unemployment solutions and other common needs. An annotated bibliography is provided along with illustrations and contacts. Non-Money is ultimately about our evolution, our personal and social advance that these amazing times are inviting us to make. Discovering our non-monetary resources creates a new wealth for each of us and gives us tools for having a more supportive (and enjoyable) world.
